Mopar Power - 1970 Duster
Engine: Bob Kammer of Kammer & Kammer Enterprises in Dayton, Ohio, built the 340, starting with a stock block, bored out .040-inch, then filled it with Keith Black 10.3:1 compression pistons on Mopar H-beam rods, a Mopar crankshaft, a Comp Cams solid lifter/flat tappet camshaft, and topped it with Edelbrock heads and three Holley two-barrels, plus a full MSD electronic ignition system. It breathes through Hooker headers into Hooker’s Aero Chamber mufflers and a 3-inch, under-car exhaust.
Transmission: Steve Stem in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, modified the 727 with a shift kit and a 3,000-stall converter. A B&M shifter looks almost factory.
Rear: Braced, narrowed, and chromed 83⁄4, with Moser axles and Richmond Gear 4.10 rear gears.
Sure-Grip
Suspension: (Front) Chromed tubular control arms, longitudinal torsion bars, chrome sway bar, and tubular shocks (Rear)Chrome leaf springs, ladder bars, and tubular shocks
Brakes: 11-inch discs at each corner
Wheels/Tires: Foose wheels (18×81⁄2 inches front, 20×121⁄2 inches rear) wear Nitto tires (245/45R18 front, 345/25R20 rear)
High Impact
Paint/Body: Original all-steel ’70 Duster unibody had been treated to a door-handles-and-side-marker shave, metalwork/paint prep, and House of Kolor's Tangerine Pearl before Dick bought, then he added custom taillights
and power
door openers
Interior: Secrest Auto Upholstery in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, covered the stock seats in black leather with orange stitching while Dick added a roll cage and a Panasonic-based sound system with an in-dash DVD player and molded the AutoMeter Pro-Comp gauges into the dash. The steering column is a Flaming River chrome tilter with aGrant wheel.
