    Description

    Mid-19th Century J.W. PANKHURST & Co. Oval Tureen/Serving Bowl.
    Mid-19th Century J.W. PANKHURST & Co. Oval Tureen/Serving Bowl with Lid. J.W. Pankhurst & Company was an earthenware manufacturer that operated from 1850 to 1883 in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, England. The "& Co." was added in 1852. This particular design seems to copy the pre-1852 stamp, which logically would mean it is from the earlier years of 1852 to 1883.
    The heavy white stone china tureen measures 10-1/2" in length (at handles) x 8" width at widest point x 4" height NO LID.
    Overall it in Excellent condition; great shine, no chips, cracks or crazing, and appears almost new except for a couple of spotting marks on the interior from the manufacturing molds of the bowl and moderate shelf wear to sole (as shown in photos).
